Vossloh Kiepe awarded megacontract from Poland
The Polish transit authority MPK Kraków has ordered another 24 low-floor trams fitted with electrical equipment from Vossloh Kiepe. In all, the number of NGT-6 easy-access vehicles with electrics from this Düsseldorf-based Vossloh subsidiary and destined for MPK Kraków has meanwhile mounted to 50.Together with Bombardier Transportation and Solaris, Vossloh Kiepe forms a consortium for supplying these triple-section low-floor trams each capable of carrying around 180 passengers. Bombardier provides the mechanical parts, Solaris acts as logistics partner, and Vossloh Kiepe is responsible for the complete electrics and traction systems.
The first of the vehicles is due for delivery in August 2007 and the last by the first quarter of 2008. The total contract is worth around €43 million and is being funded by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the EU, and MPK.
