Vossloh Locomotives Kiel awarded major contract by Angel Trains worth €48 million
Angel Trains Cargo orders 19 diesel locomotivesThe Kiel-based subsidiary Vossloh Locomotives GmbH, a member of the Vossloh Group’s Locomotives unit, has booked a major order for 19 diesel locomotives of various series. The customer is Angel Trains Cargo, Europe’s biggest lessor of freight locomotives. Including various conversion packages, the contract has a value of around €48 million. The first units will be delivered as early as January 2007, the remainder by the end of the year.
Angel Trains intends to lease the locomotives to rail freight operators mostly in France but also in Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Italy. It was only last September that Angel Trains placed a contract worth over €55 million with Vossloh España, the Spanish sister company of Vossloh Locomotives GmbH.
Vossloh AG’s CEO Dr. Gerhard Eschenröder, commented: “We are delighted to be deepening our longstanding close relationship with Angel Trains. The contract will play a large role in generating workload for our locomotive plant in Kiel. Moreover, it goes to show that our Kiel-built locomotives have a very sharp competitive edge. We are committed to satisfying the demanding operational requirements of Angel Trains and of its customers, the rail freight operators, over the long term.”
